A date night

I went out with a boy last night.

A new boy.

A cute, laughs-at-my-jokes, pays-for-my-slushie, grabs-my-hand-during-the-movie  boy.

We went to see “Date Night” because he let me pick and I love Tina Fey like my little brothers used to love Barney.

And it was so fun.

I originally met him at a bar Friday night, so this was our first encounter that involved any sort of day light. Luckily, he was just as hot as I remembered.

After the movie (which both of us laughed at tons, and you should totally go see) we went out for a drink.

And that was fun.

And then, when we were saying good-bye, he was all, “Ya, there’s just one thing.”

And I’m all “OH CRAP! OH CRAP! WHAT IS HE GOING TO TELL ME. HE’S PROBABLY MARRIED! OH CRAP! HE’S TOTALLY MARRIED! OR MAYBE HE LIVES IN FLORIDA AND HE HAS TO LEAVE TOMORROW! OH MY GOSH! THAT WOULD SUCK! OR MAYBE HE’S AN ALIEN! HE’S PROBABLY AN ALIEN! CRAP!

And then he was all, “So, you know how I told you I was 23? Well, I’m actually 21. I don’t know why I told I was 23, but I did, so I wanted to tell you now that I’m actually 21 and I’m sorry.”

And I was all, “THANK GOD THIS MAN IS NOT AN ALIEN.”

And then I was all, “21? I’m 26. Frick. I’m so old. When did I get old? This totally explains his love of slushies. I used to be young. I mean ya, sure, I look 12, but still. I’m actually old. This boy must think I’m so old.”

And then I said, “Well, I don’t care if you don’t care.”

And he said, “Of course I don’t care.”

And then he kissed me.

And, we all lived happily every after. (At lest the next 35 minutes). (It was kind of a long kiss).

  2. Hi Crystal,

Just wanted to let you know I nominated you for a “Coolest Blogger” contest.

I admitted to the host initially that you were the first blogger that came to mind when I read about the contest and that I was hesitant to nominate you because you never responded to any of my comments, tweets, compliments….anything. After a while of singing your praises and tooting a horn for you and nothing back from you, I felt unappreciated and decided I’d go support some other blogger who may care that I’m impressed with every word they write.

No one has been able to fill your shoes. If they exist, I haven’t found them. I don’t even know what’s happening with your weight loss, how you are feeling about Farve becoming a grandpa or anything else because I left.

When someone read my comment on the blog about how you made me feel unwanted, she encouraged me to not take it so personally. Whether she’s right or not, I enjoy everything you write and always want to read more. So, you may never acknowledge me but I do want to share your site with others. I think you deserve the recognition and definitely the audience.

No matter how you treat or don’t treat me, I’m still your fan….

  3. Hey there Kissie!

First off, thanks times one katrillion-billion for nominating me. Seriously, it means A LOT to me.
Second of all, I just wanted to let you know that A. I did respond to the comment you made on my blog with another comment addressing some of your concerns (See: http://sevenlayerburritos.com/archives/1519)
And B. you most definitely should NOT take it personally if I don’t get a chance to reply to a comment.
I write full-time for a newspaper, and I also write a lot of materials for the youth group I lead at my church and then, when I get off work, I write on my blog and respond to personal e-mails.
    My day is ALL writing.
That means, sometimes, even responding to a comment is hard for me when all I want to do is go to sleep. It’s like asking a waitress to get you a coke when she gets off work or a dental hygienist to floss your teeth after a long day.
Going back to the sleep theme, I hardly ever get any. Ever. In fact, I usually get about four to six hours a night because my days are that jammed packed. For example, yesterday I went to bed at about 2:30 a.m. and then got up at 7:45 a.m. for a doctor’s appointment and, between meeting my mom for lunch, going to work, and taking a shower, I haven’t had a second to breathe yet, and it’s about 10:30 p.m. After I write this, I’m going to try to blog, check my facebook and then go to bed so I can wake up at 4:45 a.m. and go workout before work and basically do it all again tomorrow.
Seriously. That is my life. Every day. So, like I said, even responding to comments can be hard sometimes. Nothing personal. I rarely respond to any comments. (Although I’m trying to work on that).
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to nominate me,(although you should know, I’m not, in fact, stuck up. At all.).
    Hope all is well!

    Best,
    Crystal

  4. Wow, how dumb do I feel. Ashamed. Embarrassed. Silly. Selfish.

    Must I go on?

Thank you, thank you….you’ve inspired my next post …. so thank you for that too.

I did tell my friends that I’m the winner of the contest because I’ve been reunited with my favorite blogger.

I really appreciate your service….get some sleep! You know you’re older than your new friend, you don’t want to be too pooped.

  5. Crystal Hi let me clarify that when I responded I didn’t know who Kissie was referring to and I know she is relatively new and I used to get blown off a lot when I was new and still do so I said that SNOB reference as a reaction to if someone was seeing what she was saying etc and just blew her off 🙂
    Glad everything got cleared up
I don’t often comment back and I couldn’t even if I wanted to and I have all day 🙂 Thanks for understanding and I hope you didn’t think I knew who and then replied Thanks 🙂

  6. A 35-minute first kiss? Sounds good to me. Can’t wait to hear what else happens…. With the youngster… Sorry, had to say it!
